Haile Selassie I Tee
Emperor of Ethiopia · Conquering Lion of the Tribe of Judah
$44.99
The Kings Collection opens with Haile Selassie I.
Emperor of Ethiopia. Crowned in 1930. Exiled by Mussolini in 1936. Returned to his throne in 1941. That same decade he stood before the League of Nations and told the world what silence would cost. In 1963 he hosted the founding of the Organization of African Unity in Addis Ababa. His name still moves through the diaspora as a symbol of African sovereignty and self rule, and lives on as a central figure in Pan African and Rastafarian consciousness.
Front: the emperor in full ceremonial regalia, framed by a golden sunburst halo with the Ethiopian tricolor flowing at his shoulders. The Lion of Judah stands at the base of the crest on Ethiopian ground.
Back: the Lion of Judah alone. Crowned. Holding the cross scepter, with the imperial banner streaming behind. EMPEROR OF ETHIOPIA across the shoulders. KING OF KINGS and the reign years beneath.
