Queen Makeda Graphic Tee

The Queen Who Came to Question a King

$39.99

Some queens are remembered for battles. Makeda is remembered for her mind.

In Ethiopian tradition, Makeda was the Queen of Sheba, a ruler of great wealth and even greater curiosity. Her story is told in the Kebra Nagast, Ethiopia’s sacred national epic. When she heard of King Solomon’s wisdom, she did not simply believe the stories. She traveled to Jerusalem with a caravan of gold, spices, and precious stones to test him herself with difficult questions.

From their meeting came a son, Menelik I, who is honored as the founder of Ethiopia’s Solomonic dynasty. Tradition holds that he brought the Ark of the Covenant to Aksum, where it is said to rest to this day. For nearly three thousand years of remembered history, Ethiopian emperors traced their line back to Makeda, all the way to Haile Selassie I.

The Queen Makeda Graphic Tee honors a queen who sought knowledge with confidence and carried herself as an equal to any king. Wear it as a reminder that wisdom is a crown, and curiosity is its foundation.
